Tulip Tips and Instructions
Time: Plant between November and January. It is best to plant tulip bulbs once the outdoor temperature is consistently below 10 C at night.
Planting: Space bulbs at least twice their width apart, and at a depth of two to three times their height. The pointed end up.
For planting in pots, mix 3 parts of compost and 1 part of grit (3:1 ratio).
Narcissus Tips and Instructions
Timing: Plant in the Autumn for flowering in the following Spring.
Planting: Aim to plant in clumps as opposed to singly to achieve a more striking display. A minimum of 6 bulbs is a good place to start, but you could increase to clumps of 20 or so.
Plant the bulbs 2 to 3 times their depth with their nose pointing up. Each bulb should be spaced at least twice the bulb’s own width apart.
Avoid boggy ground and deep shade.
Early Flowering Tips and Instructions
Timing: Plant in the Autumn for flowering in the following Spring.
Planting: Snowdrops and Crocus - plant 7cm to 10cm deep in small groups and Fritillaria a little deeper at up to 15cm deep.
Snowdrops and Fritillaria enjoy a hummus rich soil and a little shade. Crocus can benefit from a little more sun.
