The Cutting Garden, Season by Season - Late Summer/Early Autumn - 3rd September 10am to 1.30pm
A series of workshops about growing flowers for cutting - Late Summer/Early Spring
A practical guide to what’s to be done in the cutting garden throughout the year to give you a flower filled garden.
Each season, using the Water Lane cutting garden as a resource, we’ll lead you through a series of tasks to be completed to give you a flower-filled cutting garden. The series consists of 5 workshops held throughout the year; Early Spring, Late Spring/Early Summer, Mid-summer, Late Summer/Early Autumn and Winter.
From advice on seed sowing, taking cuttings and looking after your soil to harvesting and seed collection as well hints, tips and resources that give you the tools to create your own cutting garden.
Each of these 3.5 hour sessions are intended for those who are new to gardening or new to growing flowers for cutting. Each session will be practically based and allow you to follow the progress of a cut flower garden throughout the year.
Participants can choose to attend as many of the 5 sessions as they wish. Each session is priced at £65 and must be booked via our website. Places are limited to 12 each session. The sessions will be led by Jenny Huddart, Head Gardener and Julia Burton, Senior Gardener who look after the garden here at Water Lane. Jenny has previously worked in the gardens at Sissinghurst, The Small Holding and Sarah Raven's Perch Hill. This is our fifth season growing here.
