A series of workshops about growing in a kitchen garden - Winter
A practical guide to growing in a kitchen garden to give you fruit and vegetables throughout the year.
Each session, using the Water Lane’s kitchen garden as a backdrop, we’ll lead you through a series of tutorial and demonstrations to show you how to make most of your vegetable garden.
This new addition to Water Lane’s in-house workshops schedule comprises of 5 sessions held throughout the year; Early Spring, Late Spring/Early Summer, Mid-summer, Late Summer/Early Autumn and Winter.
They will guide you as to what’s to be done in the vegetable garden throughout the year to give you a productive edible growing space.
From advice on seed sowing, successional planting and looking after your soil to harvesting and how to plan your garden as well hints, tips and resources that give you the tools to create your own kitchen garden.
Subjects covered in this session include- mulching, growing perennial vegetables, how to prune and train fruit bushes, planning ahead for your kitchen garden and the next growing season.
Each of these morning sessions are 3.5 hours length, with morning refreshments included. They are intended for those who are new to gardening or keen to learn more about growing your own food.
Each workshop will focus on jobs to do in the veg garden at that specific time of year, to allows you to follow the seasons of a kitchen garden throughout the year.
Participants can choose to attend as many of the 5 sessions as they wish. Each session is priced at £65 and must be booked via our website.
Places are limited to 12 each session. The sessions will be led by Head Gardener Jenny Huddart and Senior Gardener Julia Burton who look after the 1.5 acres garden here at Water Lane. Jenny previously worked in the garden's at Sissinghurst, The Small Holding and Sarah Raven's Perch Hill.
