The Garden Collection

Soap and Salvation source from the heart, mixing antique, vintage and 20th century design finds to
create their modern rustic style.

For the garden, they have sourced time worn French iron tables and chairs mixing colours and styles, vintage hand-woven basketry in all shapes and sizes, galvanised planters with hand painted blocks of green, cream and egg-yolk yellow and a collection of beautiful urns from the eastern Mediterranean with naïve hand-painted patterns, half glazed necks and simplistic scribed decoration.

About Soap and Salvation

Soap & Salvation was founded by Jo and Barrie McPherson in 2021, after many years working in the design world.

A passion for sourcing and collecting unique treasures had been at the core of the couple's artistic pursuits, but it truly took centre stage when they stumbled upon an old Salvation Army Chapel at 20-22 Rope Walk in Rye, East Sussex. With its enormous arched windows and vaulted ceiling, the space allowed them to pursue their dream of forging a place where history, creativity, and design could intertwine.

Now, the beautifully restored Chapel serves as the heart of Soap & Salvation, showcasing an ever-growing collection of vintage pieces, antiques, artworks, textiles, and homewares. There is also a design-led library and bookshop brimming with rare and one-of-a-kind titles covering art, fashion, architecture, music and culture.
